ANGLE
HOUSE
DEAKIN

The design of this home in Canberra was inspired by the architecture of urban projects in Japan where the use of angles and interesting geometries is often necessary for very small blocks. This block in Deakin did not have the same size constraints, but complex government regulations necessitated the angled form to maximize winter sun.

This project, in a very conservative Canberra suburb and has become a talking point for the community. The house plan is intended to contrast with the standard speculative knock down rebuilds evident through the suburb, to show that with careful design and attention to detail constraints can be overcome to achieve a sustainable and comfortable that is different from the status quo.
